Bathrobes and towels in Terry and Waffle: one robe or a thousand, a face cloth or a bale. Much of it under our own roof: designed, stitched, embroidered and packed here.
The Terry
Atowelisjudgedwet.
Dry and folded in the shop, softened with finish, anything feels good. It tells the truth at the first bath: a good towel takes the water off you in one pass and is dry on the rail by evening; a poor one pushes the water about. Ours are Combed Cotton, spun with a low twist(LO) so the loops stay open. Towels are usually washed once before they leave us. Wash one again before you judge it.

The judgement
Four things towelling is judged on, to help you choose the right towels and robes for you.
Loop
The loops are what dry you: long, close and open, and twisted only enough to keep their shape.
100% Terry Cotton or mixed Terry, Combed, with a low twist(LO), looped on both faces.
Weight
Grams to the square metre. 400 is light and quick to dry, 600 is thick, past 700 it is plush and slow. Heavier is not always better.
Towels at 500 g in Terry Cotton and 400 g in mixed Terry; robes at 450 g in Terry and 380 g in Waffle.
Absorbency
How fast it drinks. A towel coated in softener feels lovely in the shop and pushes the water about at home.
Towels are usually washed once before they leave us. Free swatches of the fabric and shade are sent once your order is finalised. Wash one before you judge it.
Edge
Where a towel is thrown away: the hem frays long before the loops wear. On a robe, the collar's seam and the belt loops go first.
Hems turned twice and stitched close(LO); collars double-stitched, belt loops bar-tacked(LO).

Hotel white(LO)
Robes and towels for every room, by the dozen or the bale: bath, hand, face, pool and bath mat, white or in your colour, with your hotel's name woven into the border or embroidered on the chest(LO). Pool towels come in a stripe, so housekeeping tells them from the room towels at a glance. Every reorder is matched to the record, so the new towels match the rooms.
