The Cotton

We buy the cloth from the mills and choose it for the job: Percale in pure Cotton, 210 to 400 threads to the square inch, or 500 to 1000 for luxury and premium properties; Sateen in Polycotton, 80% Cotton and 20% Polyester, from 90 to 250 GSM. Plain or stripe, flat or fitted, in standard sizes or customised to yours.

The judgement
Four things a sheet is judged on, to help you choose the right bed sheet for you.
Fibre
How long the staple is, and whether it is all Cotton. Everything else on this page follows from it.
Percale in 100% Cotton; Sateen in Polycotton, 80% Cotton and 20% Polyester. Long-staple Cotton where the bed calls for it.
Weave
One thread over one, or four floated over one. Crispness or sheen — you cannot have both in the same cloth.
Percale for the first, counted in threads: 210 to 400 TC, the threads in one square inch, or 500 to 1000 for luxury. Sateen for the second, weighed in GSM, grams to the square metre: 90 to 250.
Finish
What happens after the loom decides how the sheet behaves for the rest of its life: how it takes dye, how flat it lies, how much it moves in the first wash.
Cut, stitched and checked by us, then packed in-house.
Hem
Where a sheet dies. The cloth is almost never what fails first — the edge is.
Double-turned and stitched twice(LO), the same on every size.

Percale
Cool and crisp, in pure Cotton. It snaps flat, stays matte and softens with every wash — the sheet for a warm room. Original Trident fabric is available too.

02 — Sateen
Sateen
Warm, with a lustre along every fold. It drapes rather than snaps — the sheet for a cold night. Also in a cotton feel, close to pure Cotton in the hand.

Stripes and checks woven tone on tone, white on white or shade on shade — the pattern a hotel bed is known by.

Printed
Modern prints: florals, botanicals, an abstract, a contour line and an ikat, for a home, a guest house or an Airbnb that wants a room with a character of its own. Printed by the mills we buy from; cut, stitched and packed by us.

The shade card
Sateen in 21 shades, solid or stripe.
Every shade on our Sateen card comes solid, or with a 1 cm satin stripe woven in. Ask for it by its number. We dye to the record, so the new sheets match.

What a buyer asks us
Yes — hotels, hospitals, Airbnbs and guest houses, as well as homes. Three sets to a room is the usual practice. The minimum for sheets is 10 bales. Airbnbs and guest houses order in bulk from us too. Ask us for special pricing.
